“I was once sitting in the same setting as you, not sure if I could really influence policies. The Secretary-General and the UN send a clear message with my appointment that all youth can contribute and nothing for youth should be done without youth involvement.”

– Ahmad Alhendawi, UN SG Envoy for Youth

“I urge you to see your time (at the YA) as a call to action. The world needs each and every one of you to do your part in transforming our world and building a more sustainable and equitable future for all.” – U.N. Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon.

We invite your suggestions on how to improve on this process, which was designed with a two-week time constraint in mind, while seeking to achieve a participatory and transparent approach. UN-NGLS, in cooperation with DESA-DSD, will also facilitate civil society nomination processes for the remaining PGA events on the post-2015 agenda taking place in May and June 2014.

The nomination processes for these events will be launched individually in the coming weeks. Each will have different criteria for the nominees, in accordance with each event’s programme.

We will have more time to conduct the subsequent nomination processes for the remaining PGA events, and will seek to continually refine the approach as we go along.

We would like to give thanks to the Major Group of Children and Youth for sharing their practices for nomination processes with us.
