BACKGROUND INFORMATION:

Worldview Mission (WM) a 501 (C) (3) Nonprofit (NGO). This Global Organization connected to the United Nations is affiliated with a multitude of organizations in the world that are concerned with ending poverty, complies with the Statement of United Nations Under -Secretary- General for Communications and Public Information (DPI) Mr. Kiyo Akasaka, by 2015.

Although the United States is one of the richest counties in the world, still, 37 million people are poor, and from those 13 million children (19 percent of all children) under age eighteen live in families with incomes below the official poverty threshold.

Worldview Mission (WM) is on a mission to break the cycle of poverty in low economic communities by educating and preparing the youth to become leaders in their community and eventually extend their cause on a global level.

Programs of Worldview Mission (WM) are directed to enhance self-direction, self-determination and self-regulation of our youth as oppose to just giving them a handout which constitutes merely an ephemeral solution, but not a solution to the problem.

I attended the conference and atmosphere was great. For the first time after years, I had the opportunity to talk about my own birth experience with others. It was great to share, and I learned a lot.

Being part of the conference, it felt like also being there for those who could not be present, especially those from developing countries. The issues of the conference are also their issues. They struggle with maternal mortality, and when women receive medical care, it is with disrespect and abuse. Many women have never heard about having their own rights around pregnancy and birth.

I spoke with the representatives of human rights groups from developing countries. Money and power are big issues in their healthcare systems, and the people are not heard by their own governments.

It was inspired to see how many people were focused on the outcome of the conference regards the epidemic global problems in birth care. Midwives, doctors and others are seeking solutions.

I am supportive to the plan of organizing similar conferences Worldwide, to meet the needs in developing countries, for the voices of all women to be heard, for the betterment in the world to achieve the United Nations Millennium development Goals 3, 4 and 5 by 2015.

The location was very good, close to the station and enough space. The ladies at the sign in table were very nice. Lunch and drinks were more than enough; it was a happy ending of the Human Rights in Childbirth Conference.
