Call For Papers — Conference on “The Future is Now: India – From COP21 – to Reality” June 24-25, 2016, Hyderabad, India

25 Jears Sust CommunityConference on “The Future is Now: India – From COP21 to Reality”, from June 24-25, 2016 in Hyderabad. Further details are available at: http://www.iscvt.org/tfin-conference/

Dear Members,

The significant commitments made at COP21 present India and other nations with an unprecedented opportunity to work together to curb emissions and combat global climate change. In response to this ripe opportunity, the Institute for Sustainable Communities (ISC) in partnership with the U.S Department of State and India’s Centre for Environment and Development (CED), is organizing a distinguished conference,  ”The Future is Now: India – From COP21 to Reality,” which will take place on June 24-25, 2016 in Hyderabad.

The conference will bring together experts and practitioners from the U.S. and India to discuss key climate change issues facing India in light of the COP21 Agreement, as well as to share ideas and best practices in order to support India’s climate commitments described in its INDC.

We are pleased to invite you to apply to participate in The Future is Now. By attending, you will have a seat at the table with influential Indian decision-makers and take part in a conversation about India’s challenges and opportunities in meeting its INDCs.

You will have an opportunity to network with and learn from peers from India and the U.S. working to address issues such as climate finance, energy, transportation and air pollution, water management, forestry and carbon sinks on the ground. You will have the opportunity to develop innovative and constructive network opportunities that will benefit you – and the field – well beyond the end of the conference.

Kindly respond to the brief  participant application form, as well as circulate it to your colleagues, peers, and networks whom you believe would be interested in participating in this conference.

Who should participate: National, state and municipal-level government officials, private sector, bilaterals and foundations, research institutions, academics, NGOs, civil society and activists. Please note that we will consider those working in India on related issues only as participants.

We very much hope that you will take advantage of this opportunity to be part of India’s important climate conversation in the wake of COP21.

Please contact Anna Casey (acasey@iscvt.org) with any questions you may have about the conference, eligibility to participate, etc.

A message from the NGO/DPI Executive Committee – We Need Your Support on the Upcoming 66th Annual United Nations DPI/NGO Conference

Edu for Global Citizenship UN DPI NGO

Dear Readers and Friends,
As you now know, the 66th Annual United Nations DPI/NGO Conference will take place in Gyeongju, South Korea.  The Conference is titled: “Education for Global Citizenship: Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals Together.” It will be the first time for the DPI/NGO Conference to be held in Asia.
Through the years, your generous contributions have helped ensure 65 successful conferences. These conferences were successful, because they provide rare opportunities for NGOs from all regions of the world and different expertise to share ideas and experiences which make a better life for all.
Roundtables and workshops encourage dialogue with UN officials and internationally renowned experts, but it is especially important: to hear the voices of our colleagues working at the grassroots level; the voices of youth; and, the seldom-heard voices of the disenfranchised.  Only then can any conference provide a truly rich experience that is useful to our NGOs and the thousands of constituents we serve.
To make this happen, your support is crucial.  As you know, the DPI/NGO Conference is a partnership between the UN (DPI) and its affiliated NGOs. Your NGO is represented by the NGO/DPI Executive Committee.
While the UN, and the Host Country Korea, provide the necessary infrastructure, the NGO/DPI Executive Committee has a mandate to contribute relevant speakers,  enable participation from youth and delegates from under-resourced areas; and keep the cost of exhibit space and networking events affordable for all.
That is why we are asking you to assist with these important conference elements, and make a generous financial contribution toward the success of the conference.   We cannot succeed without your support.
Contributions to the NGO/DPI Executive Committee may be made by check, wire transfer, or online:
By check:   make payable in U.S. dollars  on a U.S. Bank, to NGO/DPI Executive Committee, P.O. Box 3382, New York NY 10163.  Alternatively, you can use an international money order or money gram.
Wire Transfer: For domestic and international wire transfer instructions, please contact Elisabeth Shuman, NGO DPI Treasurer, at  eshuman@earthlink.net for further instructions.
Please make your (tax-deductible where applicable) contribution now.  The conference is only a short time away and our planning depends on funding received from you.
We sincerely thank you for your contribution and continued support.
