Annual World Water Development Report

Dear Colleagues,
annual UN World Water Development Report

————————————————–

#WorldWaterDay Social Media – I need your help

Hello,
This Sunday, March 22nd is #WorldWaterDay with the theme of ‘Water and Sustainable Development’. The Jack Brewer Foundation is teaming up with MagneGas Corporation and the U.S. Federation for Middle East Peace to host a private World Water Day Summit at the United Nations on Monday, March 23 in our ongoing quest to make a positive impact on the emerging global water crisis and advance sustainable solutions.

I’m seeking your help, support and engagement by participating in some of the online campaigns that are taking place this weekend:

1. WEAR BLUE TOMORROW! #Blue4Water is being organized by WaterAID America and they are asking everyone to wear blue tomorrow (Friday, March 20th) and take a selfie to show support for clean water efforts. If you would like to send me a picture of you in blue or Tweet @JBFWorldwide tomorrow, we will be sure to post it!

2. #WaterIs – this is the main hashtag organized by UN Water that asks people to make a sign that says #WaterIs _______ (fill in the blank to tell people what water is to you) and take a selfie. If you get a chance this weekend to do this that would be great. We will be bringing a white board to the UN on Monday to have our guests make a #WaterIs sign and take a picture with it at the UN. Again, if you send us your selfie we will be sure to share it with our network.

3. #WorldWaterDay or #WWD2015 – this hashtag will be used heavily this weekend and I encourage you to use it as much as you can to support the day.   Please tell your friends, family, colleagues, Facebook, Twitter and Instagram networks, etc. to join these campaigns as well.

Most of all, I would appreciate it if you would follow @JBFWorldwide & @MagneGas as we strive to expand the reach and awareness of global water topics throughout the weekend, during our World Water Day Summit on Monday and beyond.
Thanks in advance for your help and ongoing support!
Regards, JB

A Campaign for Water

Global Water Partnership (GWP) has launched a campaign to maintain a dedicated water goal on the UN post-2015 development agenda.

Countries are currently negotiating the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) as part of the United Nations Post-2015 Development Agenda. The UN General Assembly, on September 8, 2014, adopted a framework for the SDGs which includes Goal #6: Ensure availability and sustainable management of water and sanitation for all. The goal, with its subsections, goesbeyond water supply and sanitation, encompassing sustainable water resources management.

GWP wants to make sure that Goal #6 stays as a SDG and that the other goals take into account the water dimension.

SURGE Promotional Video

CALL FOR EXPRESSIONS OF INTEREST AMONG FILM MAKERS and ANIMATORS
Deadline for EOIs: 22 January 2015Calling all film makers and animators who would like to tap the power of story-telling through their child-like imagination, vivid sketches and endless creativity, here is a unique opportunity to make a difference.

We are looking for an individual or collective who loves visualizing and mobilizing (literally) simple ideas towards a powerful message. We’d like to work with one who is passionate about change to save more lives and build back better as disasters become more predictable.

The challenge is to popularise the idea of inclusive community-based disaster risk reduction (ICBDRR) or that which facilitates the meaningful participation and accounts for the specific needs and capacities of women, children, persons with disabilities, indigenous peoples and those in remote communities — or those who are often marginalized and rendered vulnerable in preparing for, responding to and recovering from disasters.

We need not start from scratch. In fact, there are successful models of ICBDRR, along with some facts and figures. There are towns who have consistently done their profiling of community members – based on their income, gender, age and so on. Villagers have learned how to make sense of weather reports from PAGASA and hazard maps from Mines and Geosciences Bureau (MGB). We have seen women, persons with disabilities, elderly actively participate the making of contingency plans – where they not only plot their way towards the evacuation center but indicate what they can contribute before, during and after a typhoon, floods, earthquakes, among others. And there are local officials who have institutionalised zero casualty policies and have led their communities build back better.

Interested? Send us your expression of interest, along with the following on or before 22 January 2015 tomanilaprocurement@oxfam.org.uk with the reference on the heading: “EOI-video”

  • ·         Name/s of the proponent/s and their contact details (e.g. addresses, phone numbers)
  • ·        Concept note in English, approximately 1,000 words
  • ·         Detailed sequence treatment
  • ·         Budget plan using Oxfam’s budget template and including all applicable taxes (e.g. 10% withholding tax and 12% expanded value added tax)
  • ·         Resume of proponent/s
  • ·         Links to a maximum of three samples of previous works

Before you start writing, make sure that you have read the creative brief. More details will be shared with shortlisted candidates.
